How to use a menstrual cup

CLEANING YOUR FUNMICUP

Wash your hands thoroughly. Soak your cup for 3 minutes in boiling water and allow to cool prior to first use*. During your period, wash your cup regularly with mild unscented soap and hot water. Each time you empty your cup, rinse it thoroughly. Clean the cup inside out if necessary.

INSERTING YOUR FUNMICUP

Wash your hands thoroughly before inserting your cup. It is easier to insert the cup wet. Find a comfortable standing, sitting or squatting position, fold your cup (punch fold recommended) and hold it firmly  folded with one hand. Use the other hand to guide the cup into the vagina up and towards your back. Your cup should pop open and sit just inside the vagina. If you feel any dent on the base of the cup, gently running a finger around the base or rotating the cup should ensure it pops open fully and seals in place, preventing any leakage.

WEARING YOUR FUNMICUP

You can wear your cup for up to 12 hours including overnight. There is no need to remove it for urination or bowel movement. Start by emptying your cup every 4 hours, until you know your flow. How often you need to empty your cup will vary each day of your period. If you experience symptoms of Toxic Shock Syndrome remove the cup and see a doctor immediately.

REMOVING YOUR FUNMICUP

Wash your hands thoroughly. Sitting or hovering over the toilet, hold the base of the cup and press gently to release the seal. Move the cup gently side to side and down angling the cup backwards away from your labia. Tip the contents of the cup into the toilet, rinse with water and re-insert. In public toilets, you may re-insert without rinsing and wash thoroughly at your earliest convenience, at least once every 24 hours.

*STERILIZING BY OTHER MEANS ALSO POSSIBLE IF DONE WITH CARE. REPLACE YOUR CUP IF YOU NOTICE ANY DAMAGE.
